Mall of the Emirates is rated as one of the top 10 best shopping malls in the world, so when they tasked Aces of Space Studios with creating a new photography direction and refresh of the website content, we jumped at the opportunity. The team worked for six months, diligently analysing data from five years of the malls’ photography direction, and conducted global research analysing trends, racial representation and colour theory.
After collecting all the data and collating into a report, we implemented the findings taking MOE’s renowned identity and translated it from a brick and mortar retail location, and transforming it into an online shopping destination. While it was important to retain MOE’s profile, it needed refreshing with current trends in art direction, photography and advertising. By retaining its luxurious image and standard, we made the website accessible to a wider audience.
For the new photography direction, using our meticulous research findings, and taking reference from the famous green arches and domes of the mall's rooftop, we built arched walls in pastel hues, and styled sets in trendy monotonous or softly contrasting colours. The team curated and managed logistics and sourced the product selection of over 2000 products from over 100 retailers. Our expert team of stylists casted and styled the models, ensuring that the hair, makeup and clothing look was consistent with the findings of our research and the strategy of MOE’s new direction. We art directed the entire shoot, composing sketches and other relevant details, ensuring every element was perfectly captured, and aspect ratios for each format and placement on website was considered.
