Aces of Space Studios was approached by FIVE Hotel Palm Jumeirah, to design and execute Dubai’s "hottest beach festival”, Bohemia. Featuring an international line-up of the hottest DJ’s, guests raved away through the afternoon every Saturday for five months. With 10 days to produce everything, team Aces of Space Studios was under pressure to complete on time, but pulled through the night to deliver for the client.
The installations needed to be pieces of art, but also withstand the harsh climate for the duration of the event. We looked to other harsh climates, with the gradients of desert canyon landscapes of painted desert in Arizona, and created a unique painted mountain design to the large DJ booth, with a sunset rising from behind the booth. Arches with lit sun rays and a gradient of faux foliage in sunset tones created an exciting tunnel, transporting guests into the world of Bohemia. Oversized flower sculptures in the same tones stood tall above the venue, creating sculptures reminiscent of a bohemian music festival, and giant jellyfish fluttered from above, their tentacles blowing in the wind synchronising with the movement and music of the guests. Each cabana was decorated in our sunset toned plants with dream catcher inspired crafts.
The venue has world-class DJs and many costumed festival performers, so it needed to be very bold and trendy, we also wanted guests to feel like they were showing up to an incredible festival, without having to travel! Many unique photo opportunities were a must, as their clients are big on social media and their self-image.
